Community Development

The region contains multicultural population ranging from the tribal communities like Thakur, Mahadev Koli, Katkari, Kunabi farmers to Parsi industrialists as well as Sindhi refugees who settled in Ulhasnagar at the time of partition. Their peaceful co-relations present a colourful picture of communal harmony. Ashwamedh Pratisthan is engaged in a variety of activities aimed at social welfare and community development, particularly at the time of calamities. Its biggest example is re-location of village Siddhagad. During the historic flood of 26 th July 2005, a small tribal hamlet ‘Siddhagad’ which was settled on a fort in Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, were facing life-threat due to frequent landslides and huge cracks developed on the agricultural land. We are helping them in relocation by means of legal and infrastructural measures which will be completed soon.

Blood donation –

There is always a huge demand of blood in rural areas. Whereas, donating blood is not very common. Thus, it is a sincere attempt to create awareness among local people by arranging regular blood donation camps. We hope this effort can help address the critical shortage of blood.

Adventure Sports –

There are high mountains, dense forests, waterbodies and also dynamic youngsters in the vicinity. If and when properly organized, responsible adventure activities can generate sustainable employment with better conservation of natural resources. We always promote responsible adventure sports in order to stop job seeking in cities and also preserve our backyard.
